“How do I begin to describe how these stories and the decoding of the messages within them has changed my life? It’s shown me what is possible for the true human being. These are the stories I needed as a girl but didn’t have growing up in an absolutely patriarchal society. The stories help me see the places inside my self that need to change and the old beliefs that no longer make sense. These are women who at their core know who they are and it inspires me to uncover that truth in myself! It’s not simply the stories though…being part of Sacred Woman has taught me about true sisterhood and it’s truly changed my life. I encourage everyone to be inspired and to connect with women from around the world who are also on a journey of understanding the self.” -Sarah Osmer
“The story of Ixchel is very close to my heart. I first heard it from Magdala in one of the first ceremonies I participated in. There are so many things that have touched me from her story but the part of the story that is my favorite is about ‘ceremony comes from the heart’. It was not in the telling of the story alone that I learnt what that truly meant but in practice during every ceremony with Magdala, every interaction, every project - if the heart was not fully there, I learnt the meaning was lost. Those experiences opened a door for a different way of living for me. One where I began being more present, more conscious and aware of myself in little and big things. I’ve learnt since that the effort does not matter if the action was done out of obligation or mindless awareness. That when the heart is there, the ‘why’ makes sense and there is sensitivity as well as care naturally. In the beginning I was completely unaware and insensitive to the energy behind the things I was doing and how I was being. In the many years, I’ve come to realize deeper meanings and have heightened experiences even during the pujas and ceremonies that I have grown up with in India. The story of Ixchel in the way that Magdala decoded it and brought it forward for me, showed me how I can make it personal to myself and where I could learn and grow within myself. And it became a doorway for many other beautiful teachings that have followed since! I am forever grateful! I hope these stories open a doorway for everyone who listens like it did for me!” - Shrishti Yadav
